DataAgents webinar about crm automation

Our DataAgents webinar showed, live and in practice, how workflow automation works in a CRM. After the demo, we spent nearly 40 minutes answering questions from the audience.

This post recaps the key topics we covered. If you want to see the workflows in action, click by click, watch the recording — it includes the full Q&A from the chat as well.

And if you’re interested in setting up similar workflows in your own CRM, we recommend watching the full webinar.

## Why nobody wants to maintain CRM data

Nobody enjoys maintaining CRM data. That wasn’t a bold claim from our webinar; it was simply the starting point.

Salespeople want to talk to customers, solve problems, and build trust. Backfilling records isn’t part of that job, no matter how often a required field in the CRM demands it.

We’ve already explored why this happens in detail in our blog article, “[Why sales teams are drowning in manual data maintenance](https://snapaddy.com/fr/resources/blog/part-1-manual-data-maintenance.md).”

## Workflow automation in the CRM: three real-world examples.

That’s exactly where our Customer Success Manager, Benjamin Schmidt, picked things up. Working live in snapAddy’s own organization, he showed how [DataAgents](https://snapaddy.com/en/products/dataagents.md) can take this work off your team’s hands — using the several thousand updates that had already been automated there as a real-world example.

Three workflows were at the center of the webinar:

1. Automatic contact enrichment: As soon as an email with a signature comes in, the contact is enriched automatically — without anyone on the team having to lift a finger.
2. Continuous data maintenance: The workflow runs in the background, keeping existing contact and company data up to date instead of letting it go stale between campaigns.
3. Turning conversations into tasks: A [VisitReport](https://snapaddy.com/en/products/visitreport.md) conversation is automatically transformed into a structured, ready-to-use task in the CRM, complete with an [AI-generated summary](https://snapaddy.com/en/solutions/use-cases/ai-agents-for-sales.md) for the sales rep.

We walk through all three workflows step by step in the recording: how they’re built, which data sources they check, and how the duplicate check at the end of each workflow prevents duplicate records from being created in the first place.

One attendee even brought hands-on experience to the discussion:

"A clear yes to connecting your inbox. We have been using it for a few months and it has significantly improved the quality of the contact information in our CRM."

Feedback like this shows that workflow automation isn’t just a theoretical concept. These workflows are already running in live CRM systems and taking repetitive data maintenance off sales teams’ plates.

## Questions from the audience.

The Q&A covered how to limit the duplicate check to specific roles, which CRM systems can be connected natively, and how to control due dates for automatically created tasks. The interplay between CRM and marketing automation also came up, for example when both systems run side by side and need to stay in sync. We answer all of that in detail in the recording, working straight from the questions attendees asked.

## Who this webinar is for.

- For sales teams that would rather spend the afternoon with customers than with CRM forms. (We make the case for why sales automation belongs with the sales team and not with IT [here](https://snapaddy.com/en/resources/blog/part-4-sales-automation-doesn-t-belong-in-it.md).)
- For marketing teams that want to know whether their contact lists are still current before the next campaign, instead of explaining high bounce rates afterward.
- And for anyone wondering whether their current CRM is actually delivering the value it could.
